At Sugar City, Sugar-Salem's pressure defense wore down West Jefferson over the course of the game and allowed the Diggers to burst out for 21 fourth-quarter points and a 64-45 non-conference win Thursday night.

"We wore them down a bit, and we took advantage of it," Sugar-Salem coach Caleb Carter said.

Brennan Bean and Kevin Walker led Sugar-Salem with 12 points.

West Jefferson's Damon Johnson scored a game-high 20 points and Tanner Simmons added 16, but the rest of the West Jefferson team only combined for nine points.
